about Past Life Regressions (Retrocognitions)
Which Technique do you use for past life recalls?
My technique is rooted in hypnotherapy, however, I use only what is left after the "removal of hypnosis" (Dethlefsen). This means that in my sessions there is no hetero-hypnosis, in a sense of the hypnotist using her will and energy to force any results. Rather, I like to refer to myself as a guide or teacher, who helps you to get into that relaxed, yet focused state of mind, which facilitates super-memory. I allow for the remembrance to naturally unfold with the right type of questions and structuring. This method guarantees that you stay in charge of the process, and you only get information which you are able to process in a constructive way.
What is the purpose of remembering past lives?
Recalling past life memories is not an intellectual exercise, or some exotic sort of entertainment. In general it helps you to see patterns from the past and present leading into the future: the goal is to discover your unique life mission (existential program). Past life therapy has been called the "hard road of self-discovery," it should only be attempted, if one has a serious desire for conscious evolution. At a certain point of evolution, however, the recall becomes inevitable, as one must learn to see life from a greater perspective than one single life span. In specific cases, past life therapy can also be used to heal phobias and psychosomatic illnesses, find solutions to certain relationship problems, understanding why one feels in the wrong body and the like.
I want to find Proof for Reincarnation. Is this the way?
From time to time, somebody would come to me saying that they want to do past life regressions in order to find out whether reincarnation was for real. While this might seem to the logical choice for such investigation, we must also take into consideration the psychological nature of memory. As mainstream psychologists have demonstrated (e.g. Loftus), memory is not so much a static data-bank, but rather a creative mental power, which changes over time. In a therapeutic setting we are aiming at finding memory which is psychologically true: we want to remember events as they occurred in terms of relationships, emotions, lessons and developmental issues which were involved. There is not much time to find out about historic facts and go on an exploration to verify them. It certainly can be attempted, but if you want to do that, please be clear about it in your initial email and be prepared to spend time travelling and researching. Else, research into children's spontaneous memories gives supportive evidence that reincarnation is in fact a real phenomenon.
How Do I prepare for the sessions?
If you are doing the sessions from home (via skype) please try to ensure that you have a quiet room all for yourself, where you will not be disturbed. Switch off phones, other devices which might interfere and set aside up to two hours time for each sessions. Try to create an atmosphere in the room which helps you to get away from your everyday environment and mood: clearing away all things and clutter, darkening the room, perhaps lighting some incense can all help. Sessions are conducted in a relaxed state of mind, which means that your body temperature will likely drop (like during sleep or taking a nap), hence getting under a blanket is a good idea. You can be laying down or sitting in a comfortable position during the session.
Can I get "STuck" in the past?
Retrocognition sessions are not time travelling journeys. The way the information will come to you is much more like remembering (like when you're trying to recall what you had for dinner last night), not so much like passively watching a movie. Therefore, as soon as the session is over, you will be fully back in the present. Having said that, emotional reactions are very common and the feeling is likely to linger on. Don't worry though, as this is a permissive technique (you stay in charge, as opposed to some hypnotist forcing their will on you), you will only see and remember what you are ready for. Everyone I ever worked with could "deal with" whatever came up.
What can I Do in-between sessions?
Be prepared, once you attempt retrocognitions, pieces of the puzzle, new memories may come to you at any time (in a dream or even in the most mundane of situations). Be open for those, and allow as much to come as possible. It is a very good idea to keep a diary, record your sessions and any impressions you might get. Pay special attention to synchronicities: (symbolic) elements from your sessions which then show up in your physical life. These are the best indicators that you are on the right track. For example, a client of mine was once given during a session a blue marble by a spiritual guide (all of this on the mental-spiritual level). The guide (still in his visualisation) told him that this is to remind him of the truth of the information he was given. The next day, stepping out of the house, he saw the same blue marble in physical reality lying on the street. Such "magical occurrences" are not uncommon, and important for us to notice.
