Welcome to Little Viciente
For many years I used to live in cities and initially held a "normal" job. (These days, some of my newer friends don't even know that once upon a time I was a lawyer and worked at an institute for commercial law at the University of Business Administration, Wirtschaftuniversität in Vienna, Austria.) It all felt absolutely wrong. Not that life was bad: we lived in a charming apartment at the outskirts of the city, overlooking an ancient garden, at weekends we hiked the Alps, eventually adopted our first dog Ricci ... but at nights, I had the strangest of dreams, urging me to finally do what I was meant to do! And that wasn't writing papers on some minuscule aspects of commercial law (which anyone with a similar education could write), but to dig deeper into the ultimate mysteries of life, why we are here and what is the real nature of reality... I received the call, and it became louder and louder every day, and I knew things will have to change. But how do start living a life which seems so radically different from what is socially accepted? How does one become the fairy tale hero, who leaves behind the ordinary world and travels the own authentic path?
Of course, this process is anything but easy and requires constant learning, courage of conviction and ongoing, never-ceasing personal development. All of you who are in this process of individuation (as Carl Jung called it) know that. But I was equally intrigued by the practicability of it all: Is there a lifestyle, suitable for the early 21st century, which allows for an authentic life and at the same time for participation? How can we live in harmony with our own inmost being as well as nature and still be part of this great global village, which often seems so dysfunctional yet grand at times?
