Frequently Asked Questions:
How does hypnosis work?
Research has shown that the mind is the most effective when brain waves are slowed down compared to the every-day functioning.
Scientists and artists of all ages have instinctively known that and have used states of half-sleep (which is a naturally occurring hypnotic state) to solve problems or getting creative inspiration. One historic example is that of the German chemist August Kekule who spent many years trying to figure out how to arrange the atoms of the benzene molecule into a chain, until one day, he stared into the fire, dozed off a bit and saw the mythical snake of Ouroboros biting into its own tail, when he came to realisation: the benzene molecule was not a chain, it was a ring!

Once the brain waves are slowed down and the mind is in a relaxed, focused state, communication with the unconscious mind becomes possible, by visualising the positive outcome of any desired goal or effect.
Can anybody be hypnotised?
First and foremost: nobody can be hypnotised against their will. The aim of effecttive and ethical, modern hypnotherapy is not so much to hynotise the client, rather to help him and her to reach a hypnotic state, which is a relaxed and focused state of mind. About 90% of the mentally healthy population can experience that for the first time. In professional literature this is called a light trance state which is needed for most therapeutic purposes.
A deep state of trance - which is needed for specific purposes, such as surgical pain control and overcoming sleepwalking - can be achieved by about 30% of the current population. This is, because it usually requires practice, time and dedication, or a very good rapport and working relationship between client and therapist.

How many sessions will I need?
Most practical issues, like changing habits or overcoming phobias can be dealt with effectively in a surprisingly short period of time. Most often no more than 3-4 sessions are needed. The same is true for issues which appear more stubborn, for example premature ejaculation or impotence.
Of course, the length of therapy depends on the individual. In a small percentage of cases longer therapy is required, when the issue has deeper than usual roots. Unfortunately, this cannot always be predicted - when it comes to the human psyche, a certain amount on unpredictability is involved - nevertheless, an informal, preliminary talk will give you a good idea (and is free of charge).
If you wish to use hypnotherapy for resolving your overall life situation, gain new professional and/or spiritual directions or embark on the most rewarding adventure of self-discovery, buying a 10-er block is the most economic option.

Do I remain in control?
Always! My most important ethical guideline is to implement only changes that you, the client, chooses. In modern hypnotherapy in general, and in my practice in particular, you are always the one in control. I see myself as a guide only, and the changes we are making during sessions are always the ones you choose for yourself.
A hypnotherapeutic session does not involve loss of awareness or transmission of power. It is merely a guided, relaxed state of visualisation and a facilitated communication with your own unconscious.
I might be the expert on hypnotherapy, but there is an expert far more competent to understand your own issues and that expert is: You! Once the communication with your unconscious is established, you will find yourself more than capable of finding your own answers and decide for the changes which you want to implement, to make your life happier, better and more authentic.
