When the Law of Attraction Seemingly Fails to Work...
If you are on a journey similar to mine, you have probably studied and practiced the "Law of Attraction" and experienced some magical synchronicities and higher vibrations in your life.
But you might have also noticed that sometimes, for no apparent reason, applying the "Law of Attraction" seems to fail. I have come across this phenomenon working with clients, friends and myself: someone was doing the same visualisations and affirmations as always, yet no manifestations followed. In such stubborn case, it's tempting to simply conclude that "this stuff doesn't work," but as I dug deeper, I discovered something much more interesting going on.
But you might have also noticed that sometimes, for no apparent reason, applying the "Law of Attraction" seems to fail. There is More Than One Law
Let us think of the law of gravity as an analogy. As we know, if we drop an object, it will fall with steady acceleration towards the centre of the Earth. We also know that the law of gravity works every time, without exception. If we drop an object, be it a pen, a book or a glass, it will inevitably fall. But what if the object we're holding in our palms is not a pen, a book or a glass, but a live bird? As we open our palms, it will fly away, high up into the sky. Yet, the flying bird constitutes no exception from the law of gravity; only, there are other laws at play: the laws of aerodynamics, bird physiology and even behaviourism.

Similarly, whenever the "Law of Attraction" appears to fail, it means that other laws are at play. The "Law of Attraction" is not the only spiritual law. In most cases, I discovered, the law of your own spiritual evolution comes in. We are born into this physical reality to fulfil our unique purpose. This purpose is organic, changing, evolving and responding to every heart-beat, every breath and every thought, but if we visualise something that not in alignment with it, we'll fail.
Clarify Your Life's Purpose
If this resonates with you, clarifying your life's purpose before creating your next affirmations will help. Ask yourself: is my current desire what I really want? Does my current desire serve my higher purpose?
Granted, it's not always easy to know what your higher purpose is, but here are three simple ways to get you closer to the answer:
1. Ask yourself what you did as a child, when you were left to do whatever you wanted. Think of times when were in a state of "flow", allowed to do whatever came naturally. Christian, my ex-husband, for instance, used to play Lego for hours. Today, he is a theoretical physicist, and he says when he is doing his mathematical calculations, it feels the same as Lego once did. I, quite the opposite, collected many other kids around me and invented adventures for ourselves. We visited enchanted lands where magic prevailed. Today, I'm a hypnotherapist and writer, using altered states of consciousness to help others access the magic within their own psyche. Ask yourself: was there something in my childhood, which currently I have no opportunity to express? If so, begin to create that opportunity, using visualisation and the "Law of Attraction"! It will lead you into your authentic life.
2. Ask yourself what you're naturally good at. What are your talents that are begging to unfold? Sometimes we overlook our greatest talent, because it comes so naturally to us that it seems like "nothing special." Therefore, it is worth discussing this with your friends: what is it that you find "easy," but other people perhaps don't. Once you identified your talent, ask yourself how it can be put into service for the greater good. It's in the nature of an authentic life that it will be of service to others. We're all connected, and whatever we're doing is meant to make not just our lives better, but everyone else's, too.

3. Discover through doing. Your life's purpose is neither predestined, nor a single thing you have to find. It's an unfolding magic path, which reveals itself to you once you start acting out of your own inner guidance.
It is in peace, meditation, nature and silence that we can begin to hear that voice... |
