Who Would Have Thought These Were Edible?

The Sarcoscypha austriaca or scarlet elf cup is a tiny thing: it actually looks much bigger on the picture, in reality it is not bigger as your thumb-nail. People would probably stay away from something so very red - doesn't red mean poisonous - it actually is edible. Albeit very small and pretty tasteless, it doesn't have a great nutritional value, but would make a great decoration on a mushroom-based dish....
